Clik here to view.Dr. Koop was known for his book, “Whatever Happened to the Human Race” which discusses the devaluing of human life and it’s results on society. In the book’s description on Amazon.com, it says,
Choices are being made that undermine human rights at their most basic level. Practices once labeled ‘unthinkable’ are now considered acceptable. The destruction of human life, young and old, is being sanctioned on an ever-increasing scale by the medical profession, by the courts, by parents, and by silent citizens. “But what can I do?” you ask. “I’m just one person.” You can start by reading this book. Yes, it will shock you. And it will make you weep. But it will also help you see how you can actually make a difference.
Dr. Koop was also the “most influential” Surgeon General in history and changed attitudes about smoking. His work always was drawn back to the ultimate crime against humanity…abortion. He was one of a handful of physicians (Physicians Ad hoc Coalition for Truth) that was featured in a full-page newspaper ad back in the mid-1990s speaking out against partial-birth abortion. The ad was placed in several major newspapers around the country and helped to turn the tide of the abortion debate revealing the horrific details of the late-term abortion procedure. That ad along with his other writings, led to the federal partial birth abortion ban. In an interview published in the August 19, 1996, edition of American Medical News, former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop said,
“I believe that Mr. Clinton was misled by his medical advisors on what is fact and what is fiction in reference to late-term abortions. Because in no way can I twist my mind to see that the late-term abortions as described– you know, partial birth, and then destruction of the unborn child before the head is born– is a medical necessity for the mother. It certainly can’t be a necessity for the baby.”
Dr. Koop was not afraid of standing for what was right and we are so thankful for all he did to save lives and change hearts and minds. Blessings to him and his family. Dr. Koop, dead at age 96…Well done good and faithful servant.
